It is so easy for the teenagers of this generation to base our lives off of the approval of others. The car that we drive, the clothing we wear, the language we use, the people we date, the school that we attend, the attitude we show others, the music that we listen to, etc. are generally dictated by the ones we associate with. But, God wants us to base our decisions and lifestyles after Him. This is the true definition of freedom. However, our generation bases our lives of off the lives of other teenagers around us, good or bad, just so that we can fit in. This takes our focus off of what God wants for our lives and puts it on duplicating the imperfect life of another human being in the hopes of being popular or some other reason. Now, it is a good thing to look at certain qualities from Christian lives and learn from them to help grow you spiritually towards Christ. After all, our goal is to imitate Christ in all that we do. So we cannot let the approval of others dictate whether or not we imitate the life of Christ. We cannot let our cultural influences, or anything else get in the way of that. So let us run with perseverance towards fully imitating the life of Christ, striving not to be stopped or even slowed by the approval of man. The fear of man has no power against the strength of Christ. "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me"- Phil 4.13. ALL things includes persuing Christ whether the fear of man is against you or not.
