Freedom

After a day of celebrating our earthly freedom and many privileges I am reminded as a believer in Christ that my eternal freedom came with a cost and is subject to the commandments of God. As temporary owners of these bodies, we each have the responsibility to find out what is and what is not good for them. We must exercise discipline with our God-given liberties because there is no value in "freedom" that spiritually cripples believers or causes pain, shame, and guilt. 1 Corinthians 11:1 says, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ."  We must stop clinging to our old ways if we are to show appreciation for God's endless mercy and grace. Otherwise our sinful and destructive behavior cheapens what Christ did on the cross. If our eyes and minds are centered on worldly perspectives there is absolutely no reason to live our lives in a God pleasing manner but if we strive for an eternal view, we realize today could be the day we give our final account. Our God is a God of second chances and the day is looming when no matter who you are, what you own, or what your last name is, your knee will bow and your tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!                                                               Blessings, Dave

Recovery perspective - We must continue to do a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Just like we take out the trash every day or so, we need to do so in our personal lives.
